A Weekend of Cleaning

We finally have a weekend at home, where we aren't running around the city, just staying home and enjoying home. So, of course, I decided to CLEAN! Ever since I went back to work, I just haven't been able to keep up with some of the everday house stuff. NOT ANY MORE! I spent the afternoon cleaning up the kitchen and the side room where I keep all of my cookbooks. Today I will clean up the kids' room, the pantry, and the laundry room. I think I will ask Jeff to clean the basement bedroom, so my parents can actually stay down there this week. Jeff is leaving for DC for a couple of days for a conference, so they will be up to help.

Christmas in July

We bought our first digital camera about 5 years ago while living in Texas. It is a Cannon PowerShot G2, which we love and still love. It takes fantastic pictures! However, it is soooooo slow with its shutter speed and the battery keeps running down. We have replaced the battery, but we keep missing the shots we really wanted to take!

During our weekend at the Lake, we got to play with Kelly's camera, which is the Nikon D40 and we fell in love with it! We could take so many more pictures with her camera than with ours! Jeff could take like three or four when I could take one with ours! So...we decided to become serious shoppers for a new camera. We scoured Best Buy one evening to just play with the cameras and Jeff talked to a Lawyer/Photographer and many other people at work and all around about cameras. We decided on the Cannon Digital Rebel XSi. We loved our other Cannon camera and decided this would be our best bet!

So, the real reason I am writing this blog today is because UPS is delivering the camera today. I received a phone call yesterday to inform me that I will need to be available from 8am to 7pm today because they will need a signature for the parcel. Normally it wouldn't be a big deal, but we are leaving for the Lake tomorrow and would really like to take the camera with us. Therefore, I am here all day at home until it arrives with two kids who were crying at the same time a little bit ago until I put the littlest one to bed (she was really cranky) and the older one downstairs to play with Thomas the Train and watch Tigger and Pooh! There is calm again in the house of Arnold, but I still have to wait around all day! With my luck today, the camera will arrive at 6:50 tonight! Oh the joy! Oh the fun!

What a Beautiful Day!

After another stormy night and the weather radio not working, we have an absolutly gorgeous day on our hands. I decided to let Jack stay home today instead of going to Bambi's and this morning we took a nice walk. Ainsley slept during the entire walk, but Jack and I found this huge snapping turtle in a neighbor's yard! I really haven't seen a turtle that big.

After our walk, we went to a neighbor's house to jump on the trampoline. Jack loves to jump!!We had lunch at Taco Bell (sorry dad--we just had to eat out!)--Jack wanted nachos and of course they forgot to put those in the bag, but mom managed to save the day by giving him cinnamon twists. Now he is supposed to take a nap, but when I last checked, he was wide awake! This is not a good sign for the afternoon. I was planning on going to Target after his nap, but that may have to wait until tonight or tomorrow.

BTW--our deck is finally finished! We have been living in this house for 2 years and have never had a deck we could really use. I can't wait until this weekend to put out the deck furniture and eat out! Now we can entertain outside and feel like a normal house!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! Enjoy the great weather!

Update on Weather Radio

After a couple of emails, I found out that I am supposed to put the radio on Channel 7. NO WHERE in the instructions does it say to program the channel. I informed the company of this information. Let's see what happens. So...whoever buys a weather radio--make sure and put it on the correct channel!

Weather Radio

So, I just purchased this so called wonderful weather radio that will alarm you when there is a storm warning. It also let's you know about watches in the area. Gary Lezak of KSHB, channel 41, says everyone needs a weather radio as does every other weather caster in the area. So I purchased one, mainly because we had a tornado in early May that hit just over the hill from our house. I really was trying to be very responsible and purchased the Midland WR-100 from Walgreens. Well...all I know is ours doesn't work. So much for the great weather radios. I have already emailed the company concerning this problem. I will keep you updated. However, I will say, everyone really does need a weather radio. After the early May storm, I would suggest everyone get one--just make sure it really works!
